constantly hear and read about meditation.
But, first, what do we mean by the term, Meditation? Definitely, it is different from
daydreaming. It is not a state where are
left free to our fantasies or to imagine anything we are free to, either. It does not serve as an escape route from our
daily mundane problems or serve as an alternative to hard work or adequate
preparation needed for success in our daily endeavors. Meditation,
therefore, is a method whereby we consciously and voluntarily rise to the
spiritual world and high level of consciousness so as to access the Light of
the Cosmic (or God). Meditation is a
form of Cosmic Attunement. Uses of Meditation Why
meditate? The uses of meditation are endless.
We could, through the practice of meditation, secure answers to
particular questions; solve a precise problem or simply become receptive to the
inspirations and the blessings that God, or the Cosmic, may choose to bestow or
impart to us. Place of Meditation We
do not need to go to the mosque, church or synagogue to meditate. Though these may be good venues for
meditation, they are not absolutely necessary or compulsory. Any place where calmness reigns may
suffice. Privacy is another factor to
consider. It is not recommended to
meditate in any place where you may be disturbed or interrupted. Rosicrucians are especially encouraged
to meditate in a symbolic high place or state called Celestial Sanctum. To
achieve such state, visualize and create an imaginary place such as special
room, church, mosque or even forest or sunset that may be uplifting or arouse
pleasant sensations in you. As much as
practicable, subdue the objective faculties so as to lose consciousness of the
surroundings. The objective senses of
sight, hearing, smell, taste or feeling should be stimulated as little as
possible. How do we meditate? ·
Retire to a quiet place and where you may not be
disturbed or interrupted. ·
Lighting should be subdued or the place may be in
semi-darkness. ·
Sit with back as straight as possible, palms of your
hands upon your knees or thighs and bare feet flat on the floor – apart. Positive energies are usually generated
during meditation and these should flow freely through the feet to the floor to
maintain a channel. ·
Close your eyes and take series of neutral breaths [Take series of
inhalations and exhalations without pausing in-between]. ·
Soft music [classical music such as Handel’s ·
Open your meditation session with this special
Rosicrucian opening invocation, ‘May the
divine essence of the Cosmic infuse my being and cleanse me of all impurities
of mind and body that I may enter the Cathedral of the Soul and commune in
worthiness and in purity. So Mote It Be’. ·
Take a question or problem and summarize it in a
mental form and visualize it and concentrate on it for a while. If it is a desire, see yourself enjoying the
object of desire or the final form of how you may reasonably wish it to be. ·
Then, and this is very important, be passive and quiet
and permit the Cosmic forces to press upon your consciousness with the answer
to the question or any blessings God and the Cosmic Masters may choose to
bestow upon you. ·
After some minutes and when you get the feeling to
stop, bring the meditation session to an end by using the special Rosicrucian
closing invocation, ‘May the God of my
Heart and the benediction of the Cosmic Masters bless this communion of self
with the Cathedral of the Soul. So Mote It Be. Tap
your left foot slightly on the floor three times, stand up and stretch yourself
and resume other activities. The answer
to your question or solution to your problem which you submitted to the Cosmic
during meditation may not come immediately but may be presented to the
consciousness during sleep in dreams or in the midst of an activity. May
the Love of the Cosmic Light up your Life with Peace Profound. So Mote It Be.
