Healthy LivingBy Cultor Health is a gift of nature which man may enjoy if only he lives his life mindfully and harmoniously. The state of health is governed by definite laws which can be studied by man and applied practically for the benefit of himself and others around him. It is necessary to first clear the misapprehension in the minds of certain religious fundamentalists that disease is caused by evil influences, or by some conceived malevolent beings. Such ideas as these constitute a form of mental poisoning and a complete cure in such cases will involve removing such ideas from the subconscious mind of the victim. Disease is caused by a conscious or unconscious violation of natural laws – the very laws which govern the state of health. In considering the health of man, cognizance must be taken of the duality of man. In other words disease could have a physical cause or psychic cause. However, psychic causes must not be misconstrued to mean evil influences. Such causes have more to do with the innate thought processes of the victim than with any external factors. In considering some of the essential points, we note that proper breathing is essential to health. This implies deep inhalation and complete exhalation. Our places of residence should therefore be properly ventilated, clean and dust free, dry and well lighted. One must also avoid as much as possible, inhalation of chemicals such as insecticides, automobile exhaust fumes, sewage gases and of course, tobacco smoke. Deep breathing will ensure that the body is properly charged and vitalized with the creative energy of the universe. Taking a glass of clean water upon arising in the morning will do much to cleanse the body of impurities and toxins. It is well known that potable water is NOT always accessible in our environment. In such case, simple treatment such as boiling and filtration can easily restore the value of such water. Many more cases of illness are caused by over-indulgence on the part of man that by under eating or malnutrition. Food should be eaten only when there is need for it. Such food should be as natural as possible – a good proportion of which should be vegetables and fruits. Artificial and over-processed foods, alcohol, synthetic and heavily-sugared drinks are the bane of our modern civilized society. Resting regularly and completely will give the body tissues and brain time to recuperate and regain lost vitality. Similarly, exercise aids in toning up the body and making it alert and responsive. However, such exercise can be as simple as outdoor walking in the clean air of the countryside away from the pollution of industrial centres. Cleanliness of the body and surroundings cannot be over-emphasized. Apart from the physical effects, a clean and harmonious environment can serve to elevate our consciousness. For those who may be experiencing ill-health and desire a general improvement in their health, the following steps may be taken:
